The Anchor Boys is for boys at school aged 5 to 8 years. Boys are promoted to the Junior Section at the age of 8 years.
The Anchor Boys meet at St Andrew's Methodist Church from 6.15pm to 7.15 pm on Tuesday evenings during term time. Boys are expected to attend the Section Meetings regularly and punctually and to attend Church at least once a month.
We expect the highest standard of behaviour from all members of the Anchor Boys. Fighting, bullying or bad language is strictly forbidden. We expect boys to be obedient, polite and honest. Please see our Charter of Good Behaviour.
Activities in the Anchor Boys include games, handwork, singing, music, drama, cookery and Christian education. Boys may also take part in various parties and outings.
The Anchor Boys uniform consists of a red Sweatshirt with an embroidered BB badge worn over a blue Brigade Polo shirt. These are worn with school trousers and black shoes. Anchor Boys baseball caps are also available for informal activities. Uniform is worn for all Anchor Boy Meetings and Church Parades. Please click the below link to see uniform costs.
      Uniform costs and Subscriptions
Please click the above link to see subscription costs. Subs must be paid in advance and cannot be paid weekly or monthly. Boys who wish to join the Anchor Boys may attend for the first two meetings without making a commitment to join. A subscription payment of £1.00 must be made at these meetings and this will be deducted from the term or annual subscription when the boy joins. Additional charges are made for outings.
Whilst in the Anchor Boys, boys participate in the Anchor Boy Awards. Boys begin with their Green badge and then work towards their Red and finally Blue badges. For each badge, tasks must be completed from the following subject areas - Body (fit for fun), Mind (think and do), Spirit (God and me), Community (me and my world) and Creativity (make and do). At Tuesday Section Meetings will parents please ensure that boys arrive promptly just before 6.15pm and are collected promptly at 7.15pm. All Anchor Boys must be brought to the Section Meeting and collected by their parents or other responsible adult at the end of the evening.
Boys should come into the building immediately upon arrival and should be collected by parents from inside the building not from the car park or road. Boys are not allowed to leave the building during the Section Meeting unless accompanied by the staff. These rules are intended to ensure as far as possible the safety of boys and the maintenance of discipline.
On joining, boys will be issued with a special ring binder file in which to keep their membership card and records of their badge work. The file also contains other information, details of events, etc. Boys should bring their file to all Section Meetings.
Will parents please regularly read the contents of their son's file as it will often contain important letters and information about the activities of the Anchor Boys.
Boys who may wish to join should come to the next Section Meeting. We are always pleased to meet new boys and their parents at any Section Meeting to explain more about The Boys' Brigade. Parents should contact the Company Captain, Ralph Chaplin on 01753 521068 or 07860 239598. E-mail: first-slough.boys-brigade@Virgin.net
